Lamar is a Ghent-based free improvisation trio consisting of Mathias Van de Wiele (Moker, Wheels), Artan Buleshkaj (Hast, Brain//Child) ) and Laurens Van Bouwelen (Amatorski, School Is Cool). Their music is as eclectic as their backgrounds, and can best be described as a mesh of contrasts; abstract explorations versus clear melodicism, sparse soundscapes versus dense interplay, effect-laden improvisation versus acoustic,… these are all juxtapositions that can be heard in their approach, that besides its diversity delivers clear intent and congruity between the different compositions.
