Chopstick Records (Ghent, Belgium) kicked off  in 2004 and focuses on creating, producing and promoting Jazz and improvised music.

It works as a creative and producing platform for the bands Moker, Wheels, Lamar, Yelemani Trio, Radio Chopstick and several occasional musical projects.

It promotes upper mentioned bands, coordinates creational assignments and was organising the Jazz sur l’herbe festival, Ghent from 2008-2011. Jazz sur l’herbe grew out to be an international orientated festival for improvised music, unique in Belgium. Currently it continues under the nam Citadelic Festival.

Besides producing records (see music page), Chopstick Records created Radio Chopstick in 2010, a non-profit online platform where interesting music can be listened to in streaming format for free.

The idea behind this was to fill the ever growing gap between creation and production, due to little output sources for improvised music. The goal is to use the online media as a low-budget strategy and to try to reach as many interested people as possible.

Chopstick had the chance to work together with many interesting partners such as: El Negocito records, Vooruit, Stad Gent, Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen, Vlaamse Gemeenschap, GentJazz, W.E.R.F. records,  Jazzlab series,  Brugge Plus, Jazz in ’t park festival, SMAK, …. and it continues to proceed new and interesting artistic challenges.
